Howdy, fellow Draconiacs!  RazorFox here.

The wait is over, and Chapter Six is here!  Has Cinder‘s attempt to communicate fallen on deaf ears?  Or has she just rubbed Kess and her crew the wrong way?  Stay tuned…

Those of you looking for a soundtrack to this page can pull up “Oh My God” by Kaiser Chiefs.

I’m sorry about the big delay between the last page and this one.  Some of you already know that I decided to go back to school and get an extra college course or two under my belt.  I got my bachelor’s degree years ago, but I like to go back from time to freshen up my skills and broaden my horizons.  The course I’m taking right now involves some pretty hefty projects which have eaten up most of my weekends, and that’s when I would normally do the bulk of my comic work.  Thus, output has gone down.  On a bright note, though, the course is almost done and the summer break is almost here, at which point, updates should come out with increasing frequency again, maybe even back to coming out on a weekly basis or close to it.  I haven’t decided whether I’ll be taking any courses in the fall, but for the time being, I’m free and clear in a couple weeks.  Thanks, fellow Draconiacs, for hanging in there and for your patience!

I’m proud to announce that I’ve signed up with Patreon to help support the comic!  While it’s a labor of love first and foremost, working on The Draconia Chronicles takes a lot of my free time–virtually ALL of it, in fact–and it’s almost like a second full-time job.  A lot of caffeine-fueled all-nighters go into the production of each page.  And now, you can pitch in to help me with my caffeine addiction and penchant for staying up late!  You can help support The Draconia Chronicles and get some pretty neat perks by doing so, with more slated to be added later on.  Thanks, in advance, for your donations and support!

And finally, did you know that, all this time, there’s been a Draconia Chronicles wiki?  Character bios, story synopses, and original versions of the comic’s backstory await you.  Big ups to Draconia Chronicles über-fan Sojourner for maintaining it, and since it’s a wiki, you, too, can add your own information to it.  Enjoy!

With that, it’s back to work on page 345, as Cinder and Kess try to find something to talk about.  Take care, my fellow Draconiacs, and thanks for reading!

  • Zoie Falcona

Well, Kess does have the sense of a cabbage head at times 😛

    • As a vegetable, it still counts as a sentient being. Remember that with your next serving of coleslaw. ^__^

      • Zoie Falcona

Yes, and I truly do enjoy hearing it scream whenever I take a bite!

  • mastergodai

    Haha Cabbage

    • LOL! I tossed around a lot of random words before settling on that one. Figured it was weird enough on its own, but just enough to be interpreted as a potential insult. ^__^

  • Shinigami65

Why I got the feeling this isn’t gonna end well ?

    • NewGuy79

maybe cause in this world it NEVER ends well

    • Because you’ve evidently been reading the comic. ^__^

    • Valkeiper2012

Oh, seriously. What was your 100th clue (to hell with the first 99 clues)

  • NewGuy79

Man Every page just makes me more anxious man, I’m practically dying at this point XD

    • Don’t die just yet! Much more to come. ~__^

  • ElektraFan

I particularly love the way Ennek and Shie are glaring at Kess to make sure she won’t tell where Kilani is. As if both were saying “Kess, don’t even think about it”. Yes Kess, time to put your sisterly love to the test 🙂

    • Ee hee hee! Sometime noticed! ^__^

      • Valkeiper2012

Oh, a lot of folks noticed (I smiled when I saw it), but only one mentioned it.

  • Bisano

Like in mostly all battle. Sending a diplomat to ensure less casulties as possible. Like Troy or 300. And we all know how it ended XD. i hope im mistaken on this situation though.

    • Depends on Cinder’s apparently shaky grip on Tigerian. Will her mouth make mountains out of molehills? Stay tuned… ~__^

      • Radar

or possibly canyons out of ditches

      • Valkeiper2012

        or torrents out of streams?
        Tornadoes out of breezes?

    • Valkeiper2012

diplomacy… the art of telling someone to ‘go to hell’ in such a way that they look forward to the trip.

  • MrAMP

*Looks at Cinder’s comment* Dirty tiger…really? That’s the best she could come up with? I mean there’s several potential insults, such as flea-ridden mongrels, feral savages, rug mats.

Also, is the cabbage referring the her head or her chest size? XD

I imagine the dragons have the upper hand in this fight as there are three earth dragons, and based on the dialogue, it appears that the tigers have little to no experience when fighting them. Also, totally stoked about seeing yet another amazing update. Now then, if you’ll excuse me…TO THE PATREON!!! *Fleas*

    • Thanks for your support! And chest size? I’ve never heard of cabbage–or ANY vegetable–being used as a euphemism for breasts. I think Kess might just resent being referred to as a leafy green vegetable when she’s clearly a carnivore. ^__^

      • MrAMP

What about melons? Some are considered a vegetable. XD
Also, don’t some tigers eat vegetables or are they all carnivores?

        • I haven’t really shown too many eating scenes in the series, but when I have, it’s been meat. They like it freshly-killed.

        • Valkeiper2012

Instinctively, ANY carnivore will eat certain plants when they are unhealthy. Their instincts tell them whatever ails them may be cured by such action.

That’s why you sometimes see a dog of cat chewing grass.

    • Valkeiper2012

actually, they have the *ahem* upper hand in mobility and they have range weapons.

You gotta also figure the earth dragons will want to prove they are worthy to fight as well, so they won’t be slacking.

  • Adam Carranco

dem angry vibrations make me think shes going to fight for her sister or say something stupid.

    • Knowing Kess, I think we can safely say that both of those are possible, though one’s more likely than the other. ^__^;;

      • Radar

maybe both at the same time??

  • Puffball

Haaaah, interesting how just one letter off is something completely different XD And then which syllables to stress or not can do the same thing. And ooo, I think Kenzi might be remembering something from one of Kanti’s songs~ 😀

Kess’ new nickname is now Cabbage :V Thanks, Cinder!

    • Tigerian is full of those linguistic landmines. And as for “Cabbage,” if Kess survives this, it might stick. ^__^

      • James-Polymer

Ooh, kind of like the German words for “love” (liebe) and “corpse” (leibe) differ only in the pronunciation of the vowels? =D

        • Ooh, great example! ^o^

          • Valkeiper2012

English is called “The Great Prostitute” by translators, interpreters, and other language experts because it takes from and gives to every other language it bumps into.
            From Paul Harvey:
“In what other language can your house burn down and burn up at the same time?
When the stars come out, they shine. When a lamp goes out, it doesn’t.
Your feet smell and your nose runs.
Blackberries… they are red when they’re green.”

          • James-Polymer

…Valkei you owe me a new keyboard. Mine seems to have grape juice all over it.
            XD

          • Valkeiper2012

I think the problem is BKaC or maybe BREaLE.

        • Valkeiper2012

well, “cook” and “kook”, the letters that are changed have the same sound, but change the word’s meaning (though some people argue it doesn’t)

  • James-Polymer

Hmm…interesting to note Kenzi’s (that’s her name, right?) reaction to seeing “yellowy” dragons, when apparently none of the other Tigers has even heard of them before. It’s been a while since I read the archives, but did she have any personal encounters of note with Earth Dragons? O.O

    • With any luck, we might learn more about what’s going on in Kenzi’s mind… ~__^

      • Sojourner

If I may, personal theory says that Kanti came home from the big battle (in chapter one) and told her sister, Kenzi, that they saw (and killed) a dragon type they had never seen before. Now, Kenzi’s remembering the story. Just a theory.

        • Interesting idea, though Kenzi and Kanti’s path haven’t been shown to have crossed yet. And even then, during Kanti’s exposure to Gaia, Gaia’s powers had been stripped. All she would’ve seen would’ve been a yellowy Dragon, but would have had no idea what she was about. As for whether, as a bard, she knows a song about those mysterious yellow Dragons…

          • Sojourner

Since time frame of the story is questionable, who’s to say that Kenzi’s group wasn’t in the village when Kanti’s group came back, before they left to rescue the others (since page 106 clearly shows kanti’s group)? During said time, some information could have been relayed about a mysterious yellow dragon, and coupled with song and potentially watching them rebuilding the wall, would know that they are earth dragons. Again, a theory.

  • Chromoid

The part that tickles me is that Cinder has NO clue what a hornet’s nest of feels she’s stirring up. ^_^

    • Swing that stick. Sometimes you hit the piñata, and sometimes you hit the wasp nest. ^__^

      • Radar

or a crazy guy with a gun

  • ThatOneComment

Makes me think European accent when she talks like that.

    • The name “Cinder” almost sounds German, now that you mention it…

  • Professor Fate

    “I want …”
    “I vant”
    “To feed …”
    “To feed …”
    “Your fingertips …”
    “Your vingertips …”
    “To the wolverines.”
    “To za vulvorines.”
    “AAAGH!”
    “AAAGH!”

    • “Live from the Katbox, it’s Draconia Chronicles!”

  • Valkeiper2012

sometimes, when women fight, it’s called a ‘cat-fight’. This comic gives a whole new meaning to that.

Somebody once said (i would not be surprised if it were Samuel Clemens) “It is the woman who is the deadliest of the species.”

    • Any fight involving Tigers is a cat fight, by default. ^__^

  • MaveriKat

Oh dear. They seem confused about Yellow Dragons. Seems the Dragon Race might have an ace with an “unknown”….

    • Lady Red’s decision may pay off yet. ^__^

      • MaveriKat

        Dun, dun, DUNNNN!

        And what’s this? A Patreon Page? :3

        • It certainly is! You can pledge your support on a per-page basis to help fund the comic.

          • MaveriKat

            And I’m now a patron! :3

          • Thank you so much!! ^o^

          • MaveriKat

This comic needs supporting. The more bang you get for your work, the more likely we’ll see Draconia Chronicles go Weekly again! 😀

Or at least bi-weekly. How is college treating you?

          • Very well, actually. I’m having a ton of fun, but I’m also ready for a break. The semester ends this coming week. After that, I’m poised to get the comic going weekly again. In fact, I’m already pretty far along on page 345.

          • MaveriKat

            That makes me SO happy!

On another note, do you think you’ll do Otakon again this year?

          • Alas, I won’t. I missed their Artist Alley registration window. While neither are official yet, I’m hoping to attend Anime Weekend Atlanta and NekoCon in the fall, though, but no Otakon for RazorFox this year. v__v

  • Cyndaquazy
  • Lucius Appaloosius

Why, though, would you want to paint space blue? You’d need at least two coats, anyway… 7@=Q

  • zophah

The Doctor has a police box, and we have a wardrobe. Too bad it can’t go through time.
