So while Xhianil is busy defining her own unique brand of Tiger tackling, Lady Red‘s got a small investigation to conduct at the Queen’s behest, one that will hopefully bring in a certain Tiger that many of you know and appear to love. Will she succeed? Stay tuned…
By the way, any similarity between our new character Briella and Photo Finish from My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic is purely coincidental. Cross my heart and hope to fly, stick a cupcake in my eye. )^3^(
For those of you looking for a soundtrack, since Lady Red’s got a bit of detective work to do here, I figured it’s only appropriate to suggest “Who Are You” by The Who. Welcome to CSI: Draconia. ^__^
We are just slightly less than a month away from Intervention a relatively new second-year convention centering around web culture–we’re talking bloggers, podcasters, YouTube personalities, and, yes, webcomics! They’re been kind enough to have me as a guest for the second year in a row, and so if you plan to be in the Washington, DC area and you wanna come by, say hi, hang out, and maybe even pre-order your copy of the 2012 Draconia Chronicles Calendar, hit Intervention’s website and jump in! Hope to see you there!
And with that, it’s back to work on next week’s page, which I’ve actually gotten a good head start on. Hope I can keep this momentum up as we plunge head-long into both convention and calendar season.
Thanks, always, for reading, my fellow Draconiacs! Take care, and keep spreading the word!
I like the design of this new Dragon. Is she a Water Dragon?
RazorFox
I guess I can tell without spoiling anything. Briella’s a Light Dragon. You’ll see just how she’s been helping Lady Red soon. ~__^
Kobra
I guess the blue color threw them off.
RazorFox
Well, there’s a little bit of color overlap between Light and Water Dragons. Once we get some more Water Dragons in there, we’ll start to see a few patterns emerge.
Silent.Kiai
Would hair color have anything to do with it? Chiara and Briella have near white hair, but Blue has red hair.
RazorFox
Excellent observation, Silent.Kiai! With Dragon types, it’s more than just skin color. While there’s no set “formula,” once you get used to seeing them, you can pick out Dragons based on their design “flavor.” Light Dragons have a “cooler” color scheme, whereas the Water Dragons have a “warmer” one.
MrAMP
You know, I was wondering for awhile now exactly how they were able to break out from their prison for some time now. I guess we’ll have to wait until the next update.Out of curiosity, isn’t that a smoke bomb? A new advancement in technology perhaps? As for Jitoux, that was probably the worse description of a specific tiger ever made. But you know, that did bring up an interesting point. From the dragon’s perspective, all the tigers do look somewhat the same, excluding clothes and hair. Just an observation since the dragons tend to have different color skin based on their element. On another note, thumbs up for the new dragon, Brilla. Finally, I imagine that she might have over-exaggerated Kilani’s murderous appearance.
RazorFox
All good points. The gag involving Jitoux’s description of Kilani is yet another gag I’d been looking to work into the comic for a long, long time. Glad you like Briella’s design. I’ve already scripted a few pages ahead and we get to have some fun with her and Lady Red. Stay tuned. ^o^
MrAMP
You know, a thought just occurred to me about that smoke bomb. I suspect it’s made out of the same substance as their weapons since it only seemed to effect dragons.
Kobra
Was it a smoke bomb from the tigers(Cant emagin were they hid it.), or was it something from the volcano?
RazorFox
We’ll eventually find out. I can’t reveal what exactly it was as this would spoil a fairly important story element. All in due time, though.

Briella has heterochromia, and I’m the first to notice! Is that relatively common among the dragons, or at least in her… race? Is it genetic or unnatural (caused by injury)?
Xch3l
Hey! I also noticed that, but didn’t knew how it was called!
http://generation17.smackjeeves.com Ethan Qix
Heh. This is gonna stink ^^
RazorFox
Glad you noticed! Heterochromia has only been shown among Tigers thus far, specifically with Aika, but Briella’s the first Dragon to show this. The choice of red and blue eyes was inspired by a drawing by fellow Draconiac WryterGirl, who put up a drawing of an altogether different character who had the same eye colors of red and blue, and I thought that was pretty neat. Decided to incorporate that into Briella’s design. The inside joke is that she can see everything in 3D as a result. ^__^
Knex
Heh…a heterochromatic dragon. And she’s a light dragon. The two naturally go hand in hand. Then again I like just about any thing like that. Hell of a hard time trying to find a natural picture of them though. ANYWAYS, on topic. I spy with my little eye a scythe wielding tigress! Are scythes common weapons for the tigers? I just wondered cause before Fuega…it is Fuega right?…Anyways, before she got mauled, which you should still feel awful about, I saw that they stuck her with a replica scythe…though I think that one could be classified as a sickle, not a scythe…
RazorFox
The scythe/sickle is not necessarily the Tigers’ favorite weapon–though it could very well be–but it is a personal favorite of mine. I like the way they serve a number of secondary functions, both in and out of battle.
RazorFox
Oh, and the name’s “Fuegana.” ^__^
Knex
Ah, a fellow scyther then!…Heh, pokemon reference and I didn’t even mean it. Anyways…Yeah, I had a feeling that I got the name wrong. I really am no good at names….This got me wondering…what IS your favorite pokemon? o.o? Random question, I know, but…it happens. Heh ^_^;
RazorFox
My favorite Pokémon are Eevee’s various evolved forms. In particular, I always thought Vaporeon looks so awesome. Back in the days when Eevee only had three evolved forms, I would play the game and kick considerable amounts of ass with each of Flareon, Jolteon, and Vaporeon.
Knex
Heh, my favorite out of the Eeveelutions has to be Flareon. It’s so fluffy~…*ahem*…yeah…Top three favorite is Ninetails, Arcanine, and Flareon…which all happen to be fire types…hm…Never noticed that before.
m
Arcanine, Ninetails, and Flareon? Those are definitely some of my favorites too(although perhaps Flareon could be generalized to the abstract concept of an Eevee’s multiple evolved forms)!
IcicleFang
Lol, I know this topic is completely unrelated to the comic, but Imma join in. :3 My top 3 vafs would def be Absol Skarmory and maybe Tropius I guess.
Elora
So, if this is CSI:Draconia, does this make Lady Red Horatio or Gibbs?
RazorFox
Yes, it does. ^__^
Rumblepurr
I love the ominous cliffhanger in the last panel. …Oh, and Lady Red acts more like Mac Taylor in CSI: NY. Horatio has sunglasses and “the pose”. And Gibbs? No “Probie” to smack around…
jclv
I suspect the fox girl Shaleigh has a hand in this.
RazorFox
She did? Or DIDN’T she?! o_O
Riddick
Of course how Briella made it sound; Lady Red would not like the exit point she is about to say haha!
RazorFox
Wait till you see the next page. ~__^

Silvertail
Kilani’s expression scares the heck outta me. Wouldn’t wanna run into her in the middle of the night with a look like that on her face. *shudder* Also, I didn’t know she knew Smokescreen. lol
Tech
